Patients with postoperative infections secondary to spinal injuries were assessed for C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT), interleukin-15 (IL-15) expression, and their predictive value for the course of the illness. A total of 169 surgically treated spinal injury patients, encompassing the period from July 2021 to July 2022, formed the basis for this study. The patient pool was subsequently divided into an uninfected group (148 patients) and an infected group (21 patients) according to the presence or absence of infection post-operatively. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) techniques quantified the levels of CRP, PCT, and IL-15 at the infection sites in both groups. The study then analyzed the expression of these three markers in post-operative spinal injury infections, and their relationship to the long-term prospects of the patients. The infected group experienced a significant (P < 0.005) increase in CRP, PCT, and IL-15 concentrations when compared to the uninfected group. Following surgery, at 3 and 7 days post-operatively, the IL-15 levels were substantially greater in patients with deep incisions and concomitant systemic infections than in those with superficial incisions, with a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05). CRP and PCT exhibited a significant positive correlation (r = 0.7192, P = 0.0001). Interleukin-15 (IL-15) levels demonstrated a positive correlation with C-reactive protein (CRP), indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.5231 and a statistically significant p-value of 0.0001. PCT and IL-15 levels were positively correlated (r = 0.9029, P < 0.0001). Patients experiencing spinal injuries who have high CRP, PCT, and ll-15 levels are at a higher risk of postoperative infection. Infections arising post-spinal surgery exhibited elevated expressions of CRP, PCT, and IL-15. Deep incision infections exhibited higher levels of CRP, PCT, and IL-15 than superficially located infections. Myeloproliferative neoplasms, characterized by high prevalence, often involve genetic mutations. The identification of these mutations offers significant value for screening, diagnosing, and treating patients. A study was conducted in the Kurdistan region of Iraq to investigate the impact of JAK2, CALR, and MPL gene mutations as diagnostic and prognostic indicators for myeloproliferative neoplasms in the patient population. At Hiwa Sulaymaniyah Cancer Hospital, a case-control study was performed on 223 patients diagnosed with myeloproliferative neoplasm during the year 2021. The three patient groups, encompassing 70 Polycythemia Vera (PV) patients, 50 Essential Thrombocythemia (ET) patients, and 103 Primary Myelofibrosis (PMF) patients, underwent sampling for JAK2, CALR, and MPL gene mutations, along with the collection of demographic and clinical details through physical examination. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS v. 23 software, with descriptive and chi-square statistical tests forming part of the analysis procedure. 223 individuals in the study group had myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). Polycythemia vera (PV) is frequently marked by the presence of the JAK2 V617F mutation, a characteristic not shared by essential thrombocythemia (ET) or primary myelofibrosis (PMF), which predominantly exhibit CALR or MPL mutations. This marked difference in mutations has a significant influence on the prognosis and accuracy of diagnosis. Further research revealed a demonstrated correlation between JAK2 mutation and an enlarged spleen. Given the absence of a conclusive diagnostic approach for myeloproliferative disorders, this study's findings highlighted the utility of molecular examinations, encompassing JAK2 V617F, CALR, and MPL mutations, alongside other hematologic evaluations, in the identification of myeloproliferative neoplasms. This study examined the antibacterial properties displayed by an ethanol extract of the Ocimum basilicum plant (O.). Many cooks appreciate the essence of basil (basillicum) in their dishes. Against three bacterial strains, the extracts were tested in vitro using disc diffusion and direct contact methods. The direct contact test, in comparison to the agar diffusion test, was employed. Data on the optical density was measured, the instrument being a spectrophotometer. Tannins, flavonoids, glycosides, and steroids were identified in methanol extracts of O. basilcum leaves, whereas no alkaloids, saponins, or terpenoids were detected. In comparison to other seeds, O. basilcum seeds specifically contained saponins, flavonoids, and steroids. Ocimum basilicum stems were analyzed and found to contain saponins and flavonoids. The presence of these compounds was related to the antibacterial effect of Ocimum basilucum against the identified bacteria. The plant-derived extracts suppressed the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli (E. coli). Amongst the array of cardiovascular diseases, heart failure stands out as a prevalent affliction, and digoxin features prominently in the arsenal of potential treatments. Heart failure patients may experience positive effects from this medication, yet unfortunately, its therapeutic and toxic serum levels exhibit a remarkable similarity in different individuals despite being disparate. This investigation centered on the digoxin serum level in the context of patients with heart failure. Thirty-two digoxin-using patients with heart failure were included in this descriptive cross-sectional study. In order to determine if digoxin toxicity was present, the following factors were measured: age, sex, creatinine, creatinine clearance, cardiac output, urea, potassium, calcium, and digoxin levels. Digoxin serum levels were found to exhibit an age-dependent increase, with a statistically significant correlation (p<0.001), as determined by the statistical analysis. The elevated digoxin serum level was found to be statistically linked (p < 0.001) to increases in serum levels of urea, creatinine, and potassium. A crucial strategy to mitigate the rise in digoxin serum levels and associated poisoning is the continuous monitoring of the drug's serum concentration, determined either by direct measurement or via assessment of its clearance.

This study involved randomly selecting 500 samples of raw milk, soft cheese, ice cream, and meat from different shops spread throughout Erbil City in Iraq. Categorized into four groups were the samples of raw milk, soft cheese, ice cream, and meat.
